2019 NEA RA ELECTED DELEGATES The CEA Elections Committee met in January to review nominations for the 2019 state delegate election to the NEA Representative Assembly (RA). All uncontested NEA RA State Delegate Candidates were declared elected by the CEA Elections Committee. The candidates were declared elected as a result of a ruling from NEA

and the revision and approval of the NEA RA State Delegates Section of the Elections Policies by the CEA Board of Directors, which states, “In the event that the number of candidates equals the number of positions available, the candidates shall be declared elected.” Photographs and statements of the candidates declared elected as State Delegates to the NEA RA are printed below as received.

NEA RA Category 1 At-Large Delegates

Doreen Lopez Building rep, grievance committee, CEA PAC, CACTPS, Legislative Committee, New Haven County Treasurer, five time CEA and NEA RA Del. I am passionate about representing CT educators Tom Nicholas As a past CEA Treasurer and your current CEA Vice President I have received great fulfillment representing and fighting for teachers rights. I wish to continue this advocacy!

Rae Baczek It has been my pleasure to represent you at many CEA events. I consider our service as critical to our profession. I would like to serve you again! Thanks for your dedication.

Christine Bove-Virr I am interested in representing CEA, as a CEA state delegate at the NEA RA. I have been a WEA local delegate and have attended 4 out of the last 5 NEA RA. Thank You!!

Michael Cerrato I am honored to have represented Connecticut at the past two Representative Assemblies. I would like to continue to serve in this capacity again, and ask for your support.

Marilyn Della Rocco My name is Marilyn Della Rocco, from CESEA, and I am nominating myself to serve as a CEA state delegate to the NEA representative assembly this summer In Houston TX.

George Flaherty I have been an active participant at the local and State level for 15 years. I have attended the last 14 NEA RA’s and would like your support to continue serving you.

Carol Sutton Engaging in the democratic process and standing tall with 1000s of colleagues at the NEA-RA is vital work for our union. I would be honored to represent CEA as a state delegate.

Tara Flaherty As your current NEA Director Alternate it would be my honor to represent you at the NEA RA. I have attended the last 16 RA’s and would like to continue to represent you.

Marisa Tassinari If elected to serve as a CEA state delegate to the 2019 NEA Representative Assembly, I promise to advocate for teachers and ensure that all students have great public schools.

NEA RA Category 1 Ethnic Minority At-Large Delegates

Mia Dimbo My name is Mia Dimbo and I would like to represent you as a CEA delegate to the NEA Representative Assembly. I will work hard on your behalf to advocate for causes that affect us. Jennifer Natale As a Hispanic woman and president of my local, I would be a good candidate for Membership Unit delegate or Category 1 At-large/Ethnic Minority Concerns.

Glenn Spencer I would be thankful & grateful for the opportunity to represent a broad spectrum of constituents: Metacomet, BEA, & CEA colleagues. I plan to advocate, & share my experiences.
