Printed below are the official candidate statements and photographs for CEA-Retired candidates seeking election to the NEA RA. Candidate statements are printed as provided by the candidates on their respective nomination forms. CEA-Retired members can vote for up to six candidates in the NEA RA Retired election. CEA RA retired candidates for the CEA RA were declared elected for one-year terms by the CEA Elections Committee, as no election was needed. ELECTIONS: 2020 NEA RA RETIRED CANDIDATES AND ELECTED DELEGATES DELEGATE ELECTIONS AND TERMS • Candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the retired election for the NEA RA will be declared elected for two-year terms. • Candidates who receive the next-highest number of votes following the election of the delegates will be declared successor delegates in order of descending number of votes received (i.e., highest to lowest).

LOCALS WITH FEWER THAN 76 MEMBERS ELIGIBLE FOR NEA CLUSTER DELEGATES

COUNTY DIRECTORS ELECTED Members elected to CEA Board The following candidates have been declared elected in their respective counties. Fairfield County New London County day of the election. CEA Bylaws prohibit county directors employed by the same town or school district from serving concurrently; therefore, members in the following towns are currently ineligible for nomination: Danbury, Shelton, Bridgeport, Cooperative Education Services (CES), Darien, Fairfield, Stamford. Fairfield County Director Vacancy A vacancy has been declared for a Fairfield county director. Per CEA’s Constitution, the vacancy will be filled by appointment of the CEA Board of Directors. At its regularly scheduled meeting on March 6, 2020, the CEA Board of Directors will hear from Fairfield county members interested in filling this vacancy. Any member interested in becoming an interim Fairfield county director should email Mary-Pat Soucy, executive assistant to the CEA president, at marypats@cea.org . Emails must be received by 5 p.m. on March 5, 2020, the last business day prior to the

Local affiliates with fewer than 76 members are combined by county to form cluster membership units for the purposes of representation at the 2020 NEA Representative Assembly (RA) in Atlanta, GA, July 2–6. The locals within each county cluster are encouraged to share costs. County clusters are achieved by identifying locals within those counties that have fewer than 76 members and, as such, are not eligible to elect a delegate to the NEA RA. Nomination procedures and eligibility requirements All members of local affiliates identified as part of a county cluster are eligible for nomination. The online nomination form contains a list of local affiliates that have fewer than 76 members as of January 15, 2020. Active classroom teacher members or NEA Life members are eligible to be nominated, provided their local is within a county cluster where an election is being held. Members may nominate themselves

or other members in accordance with the eligibility requirements. The County Cluster Nomination Form must be completed and submitted online by the last business day in March— Tuesday, March 31, 2020. County cluster positions available • Fairfield/Hartford/New Haven/New London County Cluster: 2 positions • Litchfield County Cluster: 3 positions • Tolland County Cluster: 2 positions • Windham County Cluster: 3 positions Election procedures If an election is required, each candidate nominated will receive equal space for his/her qualifications, experience, campaign statement, and photograph (supplied by each candidate) published in the April edition of the CEA Advisor . Ballots will be printed in the CEA Advisor in the appropriate county in which the election is held. Properly completed ballots must be postmarked no later than the last business day in April—Thursday, April 30, 2020.
