REPRESENTING 2023 NEA RA CANDIDATES AND ELECTED DELEGATES

The CEA Elections Committee met in December to review nominations received for the 2023 state delegate election to the NEA Representative Assembly (RA). All uncontested NEA RA state unit delegate candidates were declared elected by the CEA Elections Committee. Those elected as state delegates to the NEA RA from Category 1

Membership At-Large and Units C, H, K, M, N, and P are listed below. An election will take place for Membership Unit L. Statements of the two candidates in Unit L are printed below as received.

I have been a special education teacher in Enfield for 19 years. For the last 4 years, I have been the head rep for our building. I was also a part of our Negotiations Committee this past year. I believe strongly in the power of our Union. I am excited to become more involved in our state and local union and to learn as much as I can to support all of the wonderful teachers we work with. My passion right now is to fight against the CT-SEDS and all of the problems it is creating for Special Education teachers in our state. I look forward to learning and growing as a teacher, ETA representative, and as a CEA representative.

I would like to be nominated to represent unit L at this years NEA rep assembly. Last year I was a first time delegate sent by my local and I really enjoyed being involved in the experience. I found myself feeling more informed and reinvigorated afterwards which fuels my desire to participate again on a larger scale. I think everyone should attend NEA at least once to be a part of such a large, powerful body of people who are like minded and want what’s best for teachers and students alike. Thank you for considering me.
