ELECTIONS: 2023 CEA RA RETIRED CANDIDATES

Delegate Elections and Terms • The six candidates who receive the highest number of votes in the CEA-Retired election for the CEA RA will be declared elected for one-year terms. • Candidates who receive the next-highest number of votes following the election of the delegates will be declared successor delegates in order of descending number of votes received (i.e., highest to lowest).

Below are the official candidate statements and photographs submitted by CEA-Retired candidates seeking election to the CEA RA. Candidate statements are printed as provided by the candidates on their respective nomination forms. CEA-Retired members can vote for up to six candidates in the CEA RA Retired election.

I have been a menber of CEA for 34 years. I have attended numerous CEA-RAs and Nea-RAs. I presently serve on the RA planning committee. My heart is with the CEA and Education.

Move to amend main motion: that the CEA Board of Directors fund the remaining local enrichment grants drawing $33,129.03 to come from the crisis reserve fund. MARK YOUR CALENDAR The 175 th CEA Representative Assembly will take place at the Mohegan Sun on May 12-13, 2023, with delegates taking action on new business, amendments to the CEA Constitution and Bylaws, and the organization’s budget. The NEA Representative Assembly, the largest democratic deliberative assembly in the world, will be held July 2-6, 2023, in Orlando, Florida.

Local affiliates with fewer than 76 members are combined by county to form cluster membership units for the purpose of representation at the 2023 NEA Representative Assembly (RA). The locals within each county cluster are encouraged to share costs. County clusters are achieved by identifying locals within those counties that have fewer than 76 members and, as such, are not eligible to elect a delegate to the NEA RA. Nomination procedures and eligibility requirements All members of local affiliates identified as part of a county cluster are eligible for nomination. The online nomination form contains a list of local affiliates that have fewer than 76 members as of January 15, 2023. Active classroom teacher members or NEA Life members are eligible to be nominated, provided their local is within a county cluster where an election is being held. Members may nominate themselves or other members in accordance with the eligibility requirements. The County Cluster Nomination Form must be completed and submitted online on or before the last business day in March—Friday, March 31, 2023. Election procedures If an election is required, each candidate nominated will receive equal space for his/her qualifications, experience, campaign statement, and photograph (supplied by each candidate) published in the April issue of the

CEA Advisor . Ballots will be printed in the CEA Advisor in the appropriate county in which the election is held. Properly completed ballots must be postmarked no later than the last business day in April—Friday, April 28, 2023.
